Reminiscin’ the good old days in younger Singapore

“Good friends are hard to find, harder to lose and impossible to forget” –Anonymous

I started browsing albums through my Picasa web and Facebook hoping to collect pictures I can use for my travel posts. I had to go through the pain of retrieving them back from the web due to a hard disk crash, which happened few months ago. I lost most of the photos taken during the earlier travels with my husband.  Needlessto say, I would have to work on with those pictures taken on group travels (thanks to my friends who keep them safely).  I knew there’s no way I had uploaded them anywhere because I am not the “crazily-snapping-photos-everywhere-and-posting-them-pronto” person. But out of wishful thinking, I did it anyway.  Who knows I might be up for a pleasant surprise?

To my dismay, most of the photos that I’ve been looking for are, indeed, not there.  Today, I felt like losing them all over again. :(  I was overly frustrated.  I regret not being able to keep a back up.  Well, that's something I had to learn the hard way.

If there is something good that came out of this ordeal, it is the fact that I managed to revisit the old pictures with my good friends here in Singapore.  I have over a thousand photos on facebook and for a long time, I’ve never laid my eyes on the old photographs, or at the very least, the first few hundreds of them.  Most pictures gave me a real laugh and turned my day into something else!  My emotions quickly shifted.

These old photographs reminded me of how time flies, how everyone changed and how long we haven’t gone out together for no reason at all…

I have included photos taken circa 2008-2011.  Everybody looks a bit different back then and apparently, some of us were leaner including myself. Haha!

We all love to eat!
It's always a feast!

We all love to linger!
Younger faces!
We love to play!

Wow! Look how competitive we are!
Whoops! I bet something went wrong after the shot!
We love to sing!

Friends dance in each other's song, in or out of tune.
We love to pose… and to have fun out of it!

Newer photos...
Oh how I love when we did these to ourselves! Hahaha!
We love to celebrate!

Christmases, New Years, Birthdays... A lot of things to celebrate about!
Life, Love and everything in between :)

Through the years, friends make life sweeter, in good times and in bad.
Surely, there are bad hair days but real ones are here to stay.  Being in each other’s company is already something to celebrate about, with or without special occasions.

Call me mushy, but to my good friends, thanks for the “hellurs“, “bwahahas”, “hehehes”, “harharhars”, "huhuhus" and for singing any song with me. :)

The overdue travel posts

One thing I regret in the past is not being able to start a travel photo blog.  While memories are cherished, it still feels good to share the experiences through pictures and simple write-ups.  Not only will it be inspiring and helpful for other people who are searching for ideas, reviews and itineraries, but believe me when I say, it's also for your own benefit.  Blogging about the details of your travel helps you to keep a reference and remember the details like costs, where you've been exactly, which travel agencies or sites were most helpful to you, and most especially, it provides you with a repository of memorable photos in case your hard disk crashes. Yes, it happened to me and to make matters worse, external drive was lost!  I only got to keep a few -  those that are posted on Facebook and Picasa web. :)

Now that I have opened this blog, I am thrilled to post few destinations I've been to.  I am not really a hard core jet-setter but my husband and I (and our friends, of course) are making every effort to treat ourselves every once in a while.  We still have a lot of destinations to explore and blogs keep us informed. It is my hope to be able to provide similar reference to others.

Pardon me if I will be posting travel escapades way back 2008/9, but I will try really hard to fetch those old occassions from my memory and blog them!  I may not be able to post the specifics but then again, I will try... Wish me luck! :)

Bizarre weather in the little island called Singapore

I have been in Singapore for over 5 years and I still can't get used to how the weather changes here in a snap.  I am not sure, though, how the weather was like earlier this morning 'coz I woke up pretty late.

At exactly 12 noon, I opened the night curtains of my room and saw the blinding light of the sun as if telling me how unproductive I am losing half of my day asleep.  It sets my expectation that it's going to be one sultry day as you'd normally expect it to be in this island. Oh well, not for long...

I approached the fridge, grabbed last night's leftover, set the microwave for 2 minutes and then, i heard a vigorous thunder even before the microwave beeps.  Heavy rain followed, thumping the roof of the top-most floor where I live.  No more remnants of the warm, sunny day that was few minutes ago.  "Welcome to Singapore!", i thought.

Singapore does not have any clear-cut weather like winter, spring, summer or fall (I almost sang that one). Summer all-year round, hot and humid (trippers, be sure to be on your most comfy clothes & footwear when visiting).  Although rainfall is a usual phenomenon, it still amazes me how rapid the clouds move, and how the sky quickly shifts from bright to gloomy.  Is it only in this part of the world?  or is it just me?  I have no idea.  No matter what, Singapore is an awesome city!

Now i feel like going back to bed... :)

By the looks of it, seems like Mr. Sunshine isn't gonna show up soon...
or I may be wrong, again...

Happy Tuesday!

Blogging, finally!

I've finally finished setting up my own blogger account! Read up my "About Me" and you'll know that a sandwich made me realize I wanted to try this out, though I'm not sure what is it on the sub which landed me into writing.  All i know is, I'm a little excited about this. :)

Some of you might think that I am a late bloomer when blogging has been around for years, but hey it's never too late!  :) I happened to think that it would be time-consuming to create one.  Honestly, I didn't have the patience.  Creating is one thing, maintaining is another.  However, I just realized that nobody will pressure me anyway.  No deadlines, no hard rules, no stress. And nobody told me that setting up is as easy as one, two, three!  (Oh well, i guess i didn't ask).

Today felt like the best time to start.  Given the opportunity of being a housewife, it will be much of a treat to have my own little project, my online therapy.  The site is my chance to express my very own roller coaster ride, my travel escapades and just about anything under the sun!  Cheerios! :)
